About American Bald Eagle Foundation & Takshanuk Watershed Council

Today you stand on the traditional land of the Tlingit people. Every fall thousands of bald eagles gather in the Chilkat Valley to feed on a late salmon run. Abundant food resources make this region a destination for both wildlife and humans. Fed with glacial runoff and snowmelt, the Chilkat River changes constantly. Recent mining developments and climate uncertainties threaten this essential ecosystem and the people and animals who depend on it. By taking a photo you are participating in citizen science, which will help us better understand this unique valley and protect our home. The Takshanuk Watershed Council and American Bald Eagle Foundation thank you for taking part in our project.
