About this site

This exciting project was the result of a partnership between Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and Eurofins to provide a dedicated green space which benefits our native wildlife and our surrounding community! In 2018 the walking path was installed, and in October 2019 over 75 Eurofins employees and community members assisted in the installation of 6.25 acres of new forest. That's 1,250 trees! A year later, Eurofins also installed a rain garden to capture parking lot stormwater runoff and provide for pollinator habitat! This riparian forested buffer protects a tributary to the Conestoga River. It provides numerous benefits such as shade for cooler stream temperatures, food and habitat for wildlife, reduced erosion impacts, and acts as a pollution filter. Not to mention, these native trees provide fresh air, carbon storage, and a peaceful setting for community members to enjoy! Funding was provided through a grant from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). To learn more about riparian buffer plantings visit allianceforthebay.org/PAtrees

About Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay

In 1971, a group of concerned citizens, representing business, agriculture, conservation, academia, and government began gathering to discuss the declining “state of the Bay” and a lack of political commitment to address it. They formed a coalition called “The Citizens Program for the Chesapeake Bay” and brought regional leaders together to discuss a coordinated approach to the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers. We strive for clean streams and rivers flowing through resilient landscapes, cared for by the people who live, work, and play in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
