Farkleberry Knob

This ridge, Farkleberry Knob, is the highest point within the park.  We manage this area with fire and other strategies to maintain an open, hilltop white oak savanna. Oak savannas are characterized by scattered oak trees creating a dappled sun and shade landscape with an understory of grasses and forbs.  We are also attempting to grow short-leaf pines as part of a our forestry techniques teaching units.
