About this site

The crowdsourced time lapse of the Stuart Field hay pasture provides a unique opportunity to watch a full year of ecological changes in just a few seconds. Watch as the grasses grow, and the snow melts off the top of the mountain in the distance. The grasses will grow through the summer until it is time to harvest. Throughout the year, a variety of wildlife and livestock can be seen using the grasses to feed. Every season the pasture is transformed. Check back to see the many changes right before your eyes.

About Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site

Once the headquarters of a 10-million-acre cattle empire, Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site preserves the role of cattlemen in American history. Today the main ranch house and its original furnishings are preserved intact, along with the bunkhouse, blacksmith shop, horse barns, cattle sheds, and other outbuildings dating as far back as the 1860s. Cattle also continue to graze on the lush grasses of the ranch, much as they have since the 1860’s. Along with a variety of ranger programs offered throughout the year, there are over 10 miles of walking trails that allow visitors to experience parts of the ranch most people never see.
