This station monitors the aggradation and erosion of sand on Songo Beach at Sebago Lake State Park following the installation of living shoreline structures in Decemeber 2022.
This project was made possible though collaboration with our project partners and funded, in part, by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
Through our Chronolog Project, we invite you to help us record the changes taking place along Sebago Lake's shoreline as a result of the Sebago Lake Shoreline Restoration Project.
Sebago Lake State Park offers 1,400 acres that feature sandy beaches, extensive woodlands, ponds, bogs, the Songo River, and diverse habitats for a wide variety of plant and animal life. The park's large campground hugs Sebago Lake and includes an amphitheater and a small nature center.
The mission of the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands is to protect and manage the natural and cultural resources under our care in order to offer a wide range of recreational and educational opportunities and provide environmental and economic benefits for present and future generations.
