Thank you for visiting Martin Van Buren National Historic Site! The crowdsourced time lapse from this view of farmland, trees, and the distant Catskill Mountains provides an opportunity to monitor and observe seasonal changes throughout the year in both the natural and agricultural landscape. This includes the spring leaf-out and flowering of trees, the growth of agricultural crops, and the arrival and retreat of snow. Check back throughout the year to watch these transformations unfold.
Martin Van Buren National Historic Site, a unit of the National Park System, is located in the Town of Kinderhook, NY on State Route 9H. The site is the historic home of Martin Van Buren, the 8th president of the United States, who named his estate Lindenwald and used it as a base for both political and agricultural activities. President Van Buren’s mansion is open daily for tours from June through October. There is no charge to walk the grounds, which connect with nearby trails, and are open year-round from 7:00am to sunset. For more information on self-guided activities, visit the park’s Outdoor Activities webpage.
