Gull Point Observation Platform

Thank you for visiting Presque Isle State Park and for participating in our Chronolog Citizen Science Project. You are standing on the
Gull Point Observation Platform looking South toward Lake Erie. As a recurving sand spit jutting out into Lake Erie, Presque Isle State Park is continually impacted by erosion and deposition. Gull Point is located at the distal end of the peninsula. Gull Point is a collection area for the material that is eroded from the lake shore of the peninsula. The material moves through the system and ends up depositing in this area, creating new beach habitats that are excellent habitat for resting, breeding, and nesting shorebirds. Your photographs taken at this location will help document the natural changes that occur in this area including water
level, sedimentation, storm events, and vegetation growth. This Chronolog site is sponsored by the Presque Isle Partnership.
