Nulhegan Lewis Pond Overlook Thank you for visiting the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge, and for participating in our Chronolog Citizen Science Project. Located within parts of four New England states: New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge is the only refuge of its kind to encompass an entire watershed. The Refuge works in partnership with a wide variety of individuals and organizations to provide outdoor recreational opportunities and support appropriate habitat conservation and management. Lewis Pond Overlook The Nulhegan Basin Division is Conte Refuge's largest land division within the four Connecticut River watershed states. The Nulhegan Basin encompasses 45 square miles of sub-boreal spruce/fir habitat in the Northeast corner of Vermont. The Lewis Pond overlook provides a panoramic view of the Nulhegan Basin , the surrounding conserved lands, the Connecticut River Valley and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. With over 200,000 acres of conserved lands throughout the Northeast Kingdom, the Nulhegan Basin Division supports a biologically diverse landscape where natural processes support a diverse assemblage of flora and fauna. Overtime, the collection of pictures from the Lewis Pond overlook will enable visitors of the refuge to experience the dynamic seasonal variability of the Nulhegan Basin and surrounding mountains.
