About this site

The Cherry Pond Observation Deck Thank you for visiting the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge, and for participating in our Chronolog Citizen Science Project. Located within parts of four New England states: New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge is the only refuge of its kind to encompass an entire watershed. The Refuge works in partnership with a wide variety of individuals and organizations to provide outdoor recreational opportunities and support appropriate habitat conservation and management. Cherry Pond Observation Deck The Pondicherry Division of the Conte Refuge is a collaborative conservation partnership between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, New Hampshire Audubon, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and the New Hampshire Bureau of Trails. Designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1972 by the National Park Service, the Pondicherry Division protects exemplary natural wetland communities. Much of the land surrounding the Pondicherry Division is protected and managed by the White Mountain National Forest (U.S. Department of Agriculture). Overtime, the collection of pictures from the Cherry Pond observation deck will enable visitors to experience the dynamic seasonal variability of Pondicherry and the surrounding mountains.
